ITR-V stands for ‘Income Tax Return – Verification’ form. This is issued as an acknowledgement to your returns filed online without a digital signature. It is meant to verify the authenticity of e-return filed.
In order to complete the filing process you have to take a print out of ITR-V and have to put your signature and then sent it to the income tax department (CPC) within 120 days of e-return.
Signed copy of ITR-V should be send to the following address

Electronic City Post Office,
Bangalore 560100, Karnataka.
Upon receipt of ITR-V, income tax department will send an email informing the receipt of ITR-V (acknowledgement).
Points to note:
- Do not fold the signed ITR-V
- Envelope should be A4 size
- It should be sent only by normal post or speed post.
- You can check ITR-V status by logging in through your online account in income tax web portal
- Non submission of ITR-V within the stipulated time of 120 days will make the e-return invalid (assumes that you haven’t filed the return) then, you will have to re-file the return and it may be charged with penalty and interest for late filing.
